Celebrate-a-birthday.com is a United Kingdom-based, family-run business providing an exciting, easy and low-cost way to celebrate the milestone birthday of a friend or family member.
Our unique system enables a customised, animated, celebratory website to be created in a matter of minutes without any technical knowledge. The new site is set up by an ‘administrator’ (that could be you) on behalf of a ‘subject’ (the person celebrating the birthday), and is based around a number of images of the subject.
 You get to choose a unique Username that will be used by the subject (as well as friends and family) to access the completed website. So if you enter the Username ‘CharlesWhite’, and your subject is celebrating his 18th birthday, then your website will be available at http://CharlesWhite.is18today.com.1
After entering basic information about the subject (name, age, etc.) and uploading and cropping some images using our easy uploader, the administrator just presses a single button to create the website. We will then maintain the site for you for a whole year – and all for a one-off payment of under £10!
You need pay nothing until after you have completed your website... and then only if you are entirely satisfied with the results. Within 36 hours of making payment the site will also become available via the personalised URL. If payment is not received then the trial site and your images will usually remain on our server (and stay available via your secure log-in under the ‘Start’ tab – see above) for at least a fortnight.
Personal information about the subject isn't required. Even the name you supply can be a first name or a nickname. An email address is optional, and if provided will be encrypted and used only as a destination for form mail sent from your site’s ‘Contact’ page.
At present we cater for the following birthdays: 10th, 16th, 17th, 18th, 19th, 20th, 21st, 22nd, 23rd, 24th, 25th, 29th, 30th, 35th, 40th, 45th, 50th, 55th, 60th, 70th, 80th, 90th and 100th. Other birthdays are supported on request – subject to availability.
Your celebration website will have three main elements:
Gallery (homepage)
The principal feature of the site is the animated picture gallery on the homepage. It contains the images uploaded by the administrator, and uses Adobe Flash© for animation and smooth transitions.
On the left of the Gallery page is an image selector in the style of a moving strip of film. Clicking one of the ‘thumbnail’ images in the filmstrip will place the relevant picture in the main viewing area

to the right. Image Titles are generated automatically (but can be edited) and Captions may be added.
Messages
The ‘Messages’ page features a personalised message board enabling friends and relatives (plus, of course, the administrator and subject) to post messages and replies. The service features a range of emoticons, as well as defences against spambots.
Unwanted posts can be removed easily using the same log-in (Username and Password) entered during set-up.
Contact
The optional ‘Contact’ page incorporates a webmail form and provides a convenient way for users to send private messages to the subject.
The Contact page will only be created if the subject’s email address is provided during set-up. The email address itself is not available to users and is securely encrypted. We do not use these addresses in our marketing or release them to third parties.
The first and last images uploaded by the administrator during set-up are added automatically, completing the page.
 | No specialist knowledge is required to use this site. After entering basic information about the subject, and uploading and cropping a number of images, pressing a single button will create all the pages automatically. Image cropping is straightforward and is handled entirely within our system.
The Username and Password entered during set-up will enable you to return to make changes at any time during the availability of the site.2 This includes changing photos and captions – even altering the subject’s age or the number of images if necessary.
